Get to Know Our Audiologists Behind the Quality Care at PAC Audiology

When you visit an audiologist, you're not just meeting someone who checks your hearing. You're consulting with a highly trained healthcare professional who has completed extensive education and specialized training to provide comprehensive hearing healthcare. At PAC Audiology, our audiologists bring both academic excellence and genuine care to every patient interaction.
The Journey to Becoming an Audiologist
The path to becoming an audiologist requires dedication and years of rigorous education. All practicing audiologists must earn a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree, which typically includes:
- Four years of undergraduate education in communication sciences, speech pathology, or a related field
- Four additional years in a doctoral program focused on audiology
- Clinical rotations and internships for hands-on experience
- Final year externship in a clinical setting
- National board certification and state licensure requirements
This extensive training enables audiologists to understand the complex relationship between hearing and overall health, as well as to diagnose and treat various conditions affecting the auditory system.
Our Team of Experts
At PAC Audiology, we're proud of our team's credentials and their commitment to patient care. Let's get to know the professionals who will guide your hearing health journey:
Dr. Anna Hiroka Mamiya, Au.D.
Dr. Mamiya received her undergraduate degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences, Communication Disorders and her graduate degree in Doctor of Audiology from the University of Washington. She is an American Academy of Audiology (AAA) fellow, an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association member, and is licensed to practice Audiology in Washington state.
Originally from Japan and born and raised in Kyoto, Dr. Mamiya has a unique background. Before becoming an audiologist, she worked as a software engineer, product marketing manager, and product manager for software companies, helping global companies implement advanced technology solutions.
Today, as a local audiologist, she enjoys working with people from different backgrounds and learning about their inspiring cultures, experiences, and lifestyles. Outside of work, Dr. Mamiya dreams of exploring interesting rock formations across the United States and discovering ammonite and dinosaur fossils.
Dr. Marcy H. Abong, Au.D., CCC-A, AAA
Dr. Marcy Abong earned her undergraduate degree in Communicative Disorders from the University of Rhode Island in 2017 and completed her doctoral degree in Audiology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2022. Like Dr. Mamiya, she is an American Academy of Audiology (AAA) fellow. She has also earned her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is licensed to practice Audiology in Washington state.
Dr. Abong is particularly passionate about counseling patients through their hearing and balance journeys. Originally from New England, she was born and raised in Rhode Island before making her way to Washington for her graduate externship at the VA Hospital. She fell in love with the stunning beauty of the Pacific Northwest and decided to make it her home.
When she's not helping patients, Dr. Abong enjoys exploring hiking trails, practicing yoga, singing, and spending time with her partner, two cats, and dog.
Comprehensive Services Backed by Expertise
Our audiologists' extensive training allows them to provide a wide range of diagnostic and treatment services:
Comprehensive Hearing Evaluations
Our comprehensive hearing evaluations determine the cause of hearing problems through various tests. There are no needles or pricks during these evaluations, and we take time to listen to your needs, concerns, and thoroughly explain test results and treatment options at your initial appointment. We also encourage family members to join the appointment to be part of your hearing health journey.
Balance Evaluations
Our audiologists are certified with the American Institute of Balance (AIB), one of the country's best-known diagnostic, treatment, and educational facilities specializing in equilibrium disorders. AIB is widely recognized for providing practitioners with the most current clinical and scientific breakthroughs in treatments.
While many hospitals and clinics have a waitlist of 3 to 4 months for a balance evaluation, we can typically schedule your assessment within a few weeks, ensuring you receive the next steps for treatment from your doctor efficiently.
Tinnitus and Sound Sensitivity Treatment
For tinnitus (commonly described as ringing or sound in the ears), our audiologists provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and various treatment options, including Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT), hearing aids for those with hearing loss, and Bimodal Neuromodulation (Lenire)—the first device of its kind to receive FDA approval to treat tinnitus.
Dr. Mamiya is the only audiologist in Washington state who has been helping to diagnose and treat Misophonia patients for the past 10 years. Her expertise, empathy, and treatment options have helped many patients take control of their condition.
Hearing Aid Fittings and Real Ear Measurements
To properly set up hearing aids and maximize your hearing ability, we program your devices using Real Ear Measurement (REM). Audiology best practices indicate that if you want the most benefit possible from your hearing aids, they need to be programmed using this technique, which can only be performed in person.
We work with leading manufacturers including Phonak, ReSound, Oticon, Signia, Widex, Starkey, Unitron, and Sonic Innovations to provide the most appropriate solutions for each patient's unique needs.
The PAC Audiology Difference
Since 2012, we have been serving the community as your local and private audiology clinic. When creating PAC Audiology, the owner had one goal in mind: to help people in need. To make this possible, our clinic is staffed by friendly and caring audiologists and patient care coordinators with a passion for helping people by building genuine relationships with each patient.
As a small clinic, we can build meaningful and honest relationships with patients and their families, get to know their stories, and help them on their hearing health journey. Our patients enjoy direct communication with their audiologist via email, and we allocate significant time for patients with sound sensitivity conditions like Misophonia, Hyperacusis, and Tinnitus.
We never tell patients they simply need to live with their issues. Instead, we work to find solutions that improve quality of life.
We're in-network with almost all insurance companies and third-party hearing aid companies to provide support in many ways. We also receive many diagnostic referrals from physicians and work closely with them for each patient. Our medical reports are informative and present the most important points clearly, reflecting over ten years of relationships with physicians near our clinic.
As a diagnostic clinic rather than a hearing aid store, we take a different approach. Some clinics don't support hearing aids after the warranty expires, but we try to maximize what patients purchased even at a different clinic and/or many years ago. We're one of few clinics who offer support for discontinued hearing aids, and unless patients request otherwise, we try not to sell newer devices to patients who are using older hearing aids that still serve them well.
Our goal is helping people, not maximizing profits. For as long as we can maintain this clinic, we're content with this approach.
